On March 18, Qrunning Cable Co., Ltd. (Ningbo Qrunning Cable Co., Ltd.) announced that it had recently received Bid-Winning Notices from China Southern Power Grid Supply Chain Group and State Grid Corporation of China for several related projects. In total, the company secured bids amounting to RMB 533 million for power grid projects.
According to Tongbi Finance, Qrunning’s core business involves the R&D, manufacturing, and sales of electric wires and cables. Its main products include wires and cables rated 500kV and below, which fall into three main categories: power cables, electrical equipment wires and cables, and bare conductors. These products are widely used in various sectors such as power, energy, transportation, intelligent equipment, petrochemicals, metallurgy, mining, telecommunications, and construction.
Qrunning supplies high-quality and efficient wire and cable products and engineering services to the State Grid, China Southern Power Grid, their subsidiaries, industrial and mining enterprises, various end-users, and distributors. Over the years, the company has become a leading regional player in the wire and cable industry, particularly recognized for its competitive advantages in medium and high-voltage power cables and specialty cables, placing it among the more advanced enterprises in the field.
The company is a national high-tech enterprise and has been designated as a “Little Giant” enterprise specializing in niche sectors (“专精特新”) by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. It holds production licenses for wires and cables and operates a provincial-level engineering and technology research center.
In recent years, Qrunning has increased its R&D investment, successfully achieving product transformation and upgrading. Its new-generation cable products—including rail transit cables, special-purpose low, medium, and high-voltage cables, new energy cables, ultra-high-voltage DC cables, and military-grade cables—have been applied in various sectors. Its core power cable products rated below 220kV are widely used in State Grid and China Southern Power Grid projects across provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities. The products have also been applied in Beijing Metro, Guangzhou Metro, the Sichuan-Tibet grid interconnection project, and United Nations peacekeeping construction projects, among others. As of June 2023, the company holds 12 invention patents and 31 utility model patents related to wire and cable technologies.
Qrunning’s technologies for producing cables 220kV and below are considered advanced at the national level. It is also one of the few companies in China capable of manufacturing 500kV ultra-high-voltage, large cross-section power cables. The company successfully participated in the National 863 Program project titled “Development of 320kV Ultra-High-Voltage DC Cable Using Polymer-Based Nano Composite Insulation Materials and Accessories”, marking its first full-scale technological breakthrough in ultra-high-voltage DC cable manufacturing and achieving independent domestic production. Qrunning also leads in technologies such as ultra-high-voltage optical-electric composite cables, new-generation B1 and B2 grade high flame-retardant cables, placing it at the forefront of the high-end cable industry.
The company has been involved in the drafting of 28 national, industry, and association standards, reinforcing its leading position in cable technology.
Today, Qrunning has grown into one of Zhejiang Province’s largest cable production bases, equipped with state-of-the-art production and testing equipment imported from Germany and the U.S., reaching international hardware standards. It boasts industry-leading technical capabilities, with key performance metrics for its medium- and high-voltage cables aligned with international benchmarks. It has also developed enterprise standards for flame-retardant, fire-resistant, anti-termite, low-smoke low-halogen, and low-smoke halogen-free specialty cables, all certified by national authorities.
The company has earned certifications for its quality management system, environmental management system, and occupational health and safety management system. Its products have received CCC mandatory certification and PCCC energy product certification. Its “Qrunning” brand 6–35kV and 110kV XLPE power cables were recognized as Zhejiang Famous Brand Products by the Zhejiang Provincial Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision. In terms of product quality, the company meets advanced domestic standards, serving the needs of high-end downstream clients.
Qrunning has received numerous accolades from the China Association for Quality Inspection, including “Leading Brand in China’s Wire and Cable Industry”, “Trusted Product for National Quality Inspection”, and “National Demonstration Enterprise for Product and Service Quality Integrity”. It has also been named one of China’s Top 10 Brands in Power Cables, Electrical Equipment Cables, and Specialty Cables by platforms such as China Procurement & Tendering Network. Between 2019 and 2022, the China Social Welfare Foundation honored the company with the “Most Socially Responsible Enterprise” award for four consecutive years. These recognitions have enhanced the company’s brand image and support its long-term development.
Qrunning targets large-scale enterprises as its primary customer base and has built a dedicated key account service system. Over years of operations, it has developed a stable, high-end client base represented by major domestic power transmission and transformation equipment manufacturers and the State Grid Corporation of China. It is a main supplier to State Grid, China Southern Power Grid, and local power systems (generation and distribution). Its products have been used in major projects such as the Guangzhou Asian Games, urban rail transit systems, and UN peacekeeping infrastructure.
With expanding production capacity and improved supply capabilities, Qrunning is committed to becoming a strategic supplier for more renowned clients.
